Have a absolute max £1000 budget and would like to get a decent carry case also.

I a bit stuck between these two

HP Pavilion DV6-2060EA Laptop

Sony VAIO F11 M1E/H / Core i5 520M 2.4 - 2.93GHz / 4GB / 500GB / Blu-ray BD-ROM Combo / 16.4" / Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit / Laptop / Notebook / Grey

The sony is i5 rather than i7 but apart from games I really won't be stressing it too much. The sony also has the bigger screen which I would prefer for gaming. It also has the GT330 card rather than the HP which has the 230.

I am not very techy. Is the down grade to an i5 worth the better card and bigger screen, perhaps sony is also a better make? Or should I stick with the i7 (does it throttle on this model) and accept the losses on screen and card?

Yea i'm stuck between that HP dv6-2106ea and a Vaio. The Vaio I am looking at is an E series one (VPCEB1X5E)

It also has Core i5 processor (520m) instead of the Core i7...

The spec for the Vaio is 'less' but it costs slightly more with the configuration I have made.
Intel® CoreTM i5 520m Processor
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
White
320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
4 GB 1066MHz DDR3-SDRAM
ATI MobilityRadeon HD5650 1GB
39.4 cm LCD, 1920x1080, webcam

However with the 1080 screen I would have to wait '5-6 weeks' for delivery which i'm not too keen about...

Any thoughts or alternatives welcome please ;)

I have the following spec:
i7 720QM
W7 Home Premium
320GB 7,200 SATA
4GB 1333Mhz DDR3
ATI 5470
1920x1080, 15.6"
Webcam
Backlit keyboard

I have to say the screen is beautiful.. thats a Dell Studio 15. Iit cost a total of £690 + £20 delivery, £710 final. Also it took 13 days to arrive from the order date to delivery date (the Dell delivery system showed 30 days from order > delivery but it took a lot less)!

i7 is a must have, its defo futureproof and so powerful. Just for comparisons sake, I was able to open and play 16 episodes of 24 (the tv series), while browsing the web, playing music, and installing some apps in the background.. all flawlessly. You wouldnt even think there was anything happenin in the background. 4 ccores really do destroy the i5's dual core.
