Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a 24" monitor at the moment to replace my ageing xerox 19" LCD and have a budget of about $300 (My pound sign's not working!) There's 3 monitors that i have my eye and just wondered which one you would choose, i mainly use it for photo editing/manipulation and a little bit of gaming.

Samsung SM-245B

I appreciate your help.

hey sloth, i've been trawling the monitor section for months now looking for a 24". i was prepaired to pay for one of the more expensive screens but they might just not be 100% best solution for gaming, so i'm now pretty much in the same boat as you with monitor choice.

i think the Sammy is tried and tested and is a great monitor. the benq has HDMI input and does 1:1 pixel mapping if i read correctly which i think are two things that are swaying me over the sammy.

not sure about what the dell offers over the sammy or benq, i hope someone else can jump in with some advice :)

someone might recommend the OcUK one but after seeing how many ppl have to return them, i really wouldn't touch one :/

The Dell E248WFP does pixel mapping too. My only gripe with the Benq is the build quality but that's because I read a few consumer reviews where they had issues and (ironically) ended up swapping them for the Samsung or Dell. Having said that though, the Benq is the cheapest (by far) and the only one that has both HDMI and 1:1 pixel mapping. Unfortunately the Samsung doesn't have pixel mapping and I read a few consumer reviews where they expressed concerns over the noise of the Samsung but that may just have been a bad batch.

It's certainly a tough choice, I'll grant you that.
