Hi,

I'm after a multifunctional printer I have shortlisted the following two:

a) epson dx3800

b) canon mp150

I dont know anything about multifunctional printers so wondered if someone could help me?

Thanks in advance..

P.S. I was really looking to place an order today so all help would be most appreciated...

Canon must die! (after Lexmark & HP though):p

Nah, I use Epson printers exclusively... ink is cheap, quality is good (I sell A3 prints, it *has* to be good)

Oh, and i can fix the vast majority of problems an epson can throw up.

The answer depends on what you are doing. Give us more info...

just general printing with the odd couple of digital pictures and perhaps printing some of my photoshop stuff..quality is important

of course it *** be nice if it was cheap on the ink side as well

or if i have missed a printer a recommendation would be most appreciated as long as its multifunctional and around the same money as those two..

please help

thanks in advance..

I have the Epson DX3850. I hate it with a passion, it uses ink just turning it on! It really knows how to drink.

As does any Inkjet printer (Pressure is required to squeeze the ink through a Piezo head)

Granted, if you print a top resolution, it will drink, but again, so will any printer. Most people have trouble seeing any quality difference over 1440DPI, short of having 2 prints back to back.

The Epson is a good printer, and you can use cheap, yet decent, ink in it (I use PrintRite personally, avoid JetTec & Inkrite etc as they are only good for draft quality)

I've had a lot of epsons that have been put through very heavy usage. They break down a lot compared to canon and (don't know if the modern ones do) have an annoying little sump inside that fills up with the used ink from head cleaning etc then stops working completely, software advises you to get an epson engineer to look at it. The sump can be emptied by yourself just annoying you have to take your printer to bits to sort it.

The good point as others have said is that cartridge price is comparatively low compared to other brands. However, i wont be moving back to epson fron canon.
