i'm upgrading today which one is better 7900gt extreme edition £270 or x1900xt £300 ish . i play forgotten battles so which one would give better water effects and eye candy on dell 2405 also which one is quiter , i'm sure i read somewhere that the x1900 were quite noisy :)

Yep, the X1900XT is quite a lot better

Basically the 7900GT performs like a speed bumped 7800GTX so about on par with the X1800XT

The X1900XT performs like a 7800GTX512 or just a little slower than the 7900GTX so by far the better choice

overclockers had them on offer this week so got connect 3d x1900xt great price so now for some benchies thx guys

The 7900GT would give you the better water effects in Forgotten Battles. Unfortunately, the x1900 series cannot do the high detailed SM3.0 water that you see under my sig.

Also, consider the 7900GTX :)

Come off it egt.

X1900XT for £280 or 7900GT EE for what, £270. Don't offer bad advice, whatever camp you sit in.

@ OP: That old game has no support for SM3.0 on ATi cards (game designers fault).

It's extremely poor advice to say that he should get a 7900GT over the X1900XT. That X1900XT is the 3rd best card out at the moment. Only behind the XT-X and the 7900GTX. Also, you might note that he probably has a budget of £300ish and not £350-450 for a GTX. For goodness sake.

You have a widescreen large TFT OP - it is well documented that the nV's suffer a lot of shimmering at this high res and it might be worthwhile getting ths ATi as at least it will allow max eye candy, if not the best water.

This is seriously getting getting beyond a ******* joke now. :(

Buy a PowerColor ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
Price: £238.95 (£280.77 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Bargain at this price.. :D

There both quite noisy..
The ati fan has a whine to it at low speed.
The 7900gt fan meant to run flat out 24/7

Take a look at the OP, he asked which card would give the best water effects in Forgotten Battles, i gave him the correct answer. I also advised him to consider the 7900GTX. I can't see the problem

Yes with flight sim the nvidia cards are normally better and faster..

And forgotten battles was a know game to run slower on the x1900 range in reviews went the x1900 range came out.

Read it, but i find it a bit strange, either you 2 are together on this, or the OP's taking the ****, in which case you got owned as you say the same ******* thing in everyone of these which threads, constantly **** ATi off for a water affect in an ancient game. :D

Yeah for that one game may aswell get the 7900 if thats all you play. If you play others then get the 1900.

Poor egt lol.

Edit: Does seen strange though people asking specifically for this game when its known the 1900's struggle. 0_0

Interesting conspiracy theory, but totally wrong and totally off-topic.

Doesn't matter if the OP was which card for COD2/FEAR 7900 or x1900, this would be the reply guaranteed

As its the same thing regardless, and its really tiresome. :(

The same thing has been posted in another thread about which card -7900 or x1900, and no sodding games were mentioned, said the x1900's were not a high end card becasue of this bloody water affect they can't do in this ancient game, and look around as i said its all the time in every one of these threads. :(
