Currently have a 3700+ SD 939 but would like it to go slightly faster

I play games and encode lots of divx files

So:

AMD Opteron 64 152 Venus Core, 2.6GHz 1MB £85.76

AMD Opteron 64 175 Denmark Core, 2x 2.2GHz, 2MB £86.95

Which one?

Get the Opteron 175. I swapped a single core 4000+ for an Opteron 180 and have been quite happy so far. And they "usually" clock quite well.

In my opinion, neither will make a lot of difference (either way) in games. Though the dual core may help later, as games start to make some "real" advantage of multi core processors.

PS. Clock your current processor up a bit and you should be able to pretty much equal the Opteron 152.

Or... save your money for a complete re-build later... or buy a more powerful graphics card.

The Opteron 175 is the way I would go also because it is dual core, if your encoding program is not coded for multi-CPU support then it probably makes little difference to that but it should provide a smoother overall system. :)
