hi all ..

Iam thinking of upgrading my OS from XP Pro 32bit to either XP 64bit or Vista 64 ..

but i`ve heard a lot of stuff about Vista being ... well not very good .

an i`ve heard the drivers for XP 64 are nonexsitant to flaky ...

i`d like to stick with XP cause i know my way round it,
an i hate it when they change OS`s cause they end up moving everything around ..
which makes it pain to learn .

also i think DX10+ isn`t worth it atmo cause there`s no games supporting it ? or is there ?

but i do have 4gig of ram i`d like to make the most of it ... which 32bit OS`s don`t an 64bit does ..

so my Q is which is the better option ??

pro`s an con`s of either or both OS`s

an i`ve heard there`s suppose to be a OS7 out in the nxt year or so ? true or false ?

would it be better to wait for that ?

with thx mav ..

I doubt you are using the 3GB odd that XP 32-bit will be reporting so what is the point? Stick with XP and upgrade when you need it.

Vista is fine-most people never have a problem with it. DX10 is supported by a lot of things, and games are beginning to use it effectively.

yeah but i`ve heard that Vista is a real memory hog an 2gig is fine but 4gig is the sweet spot for vista ? true or false ?

I made the switch to Vista 64 last november and didn't find it too difficult to find my way around. I prefer vista than xp, visually it looks stunning and I haven't had any issue with vista. I have now found that I have forgotten how to do things on xp if I try to think about them, and I used it since it first came out. Luckilly my laptop came with XP pro so I can just refer to that for a refresher if I need to ;)

Heh, I have the same issue! Personally I think that Vista is Microsoft's best distro by a considerable distance...not a patch on Linux though :D
