I have been using Pbase for about 3 years now. It is not very expensive, (about $45 US per year for 300mb, but you can get higher accounts), and has a nice feature where you can upload a large picture and it will create smaller sizes for you automatically. Also only the original picture counts towards your limit. You can direct link to all the stuff on there. Another feature is that you can completely customise the look and feel, and I can see quite a few Photographers use their Pbase account as their main website.
 
Flickr. I love the way you can make a community for any occasion and there's a couple for local photogs near me, which is great.
