I'm looking at replacing my K750i with some kind of PDA type phone. I currently carry my phone and Palm around with me and think that now is the time to consolidate the two.

I'm on Orange, and I see a fair few funny SPV type things listed that may or may not do the job but I know nothing about them.

I'm on a contract, I need wireless and bluetooth, GPRS is essential but I've not even thought about 3G yet. MP3 as ringtones is almost essential. Basic web surfing is important and a small keyboard would be good.

Anyone got any suggestions?

The two Orange phones that fit your specification are the M5000 (clamshell with fold and swivel screen) and M2000 (typical PDA shape with a slide out keyboard).

Others that you might consider
M1500 - no keyboard, no wifi
M500 - no keyboard, no wifi
Palm Treo650 - keyboard, no wifi

The M5000 (I have the Qtek 9000 equivalent) is a bit big to be used as a phone and is probably heavier than your current Palm and phone together. Decent size keyboard and VGA screen is good for web surfing and also means I don't need to carry a laptop when travelling.

M2000/1500 - Ive not experienced either of these

M500 - I briefly had a iMate K-Jam whish is a slightly thicker version with a slide out keyboard. I found the keyboard small to use and the qvga screen too small for web surfing.

I also have a SPV C600 and would not recommend it as a PDA replacement or web surfing. Lack of keyboard and no touch screen makes it awkward to use as anything other than a phone. TomTom runs quite nicely on it though.

And more to think about, but not directly available on Orange (some places may do a contract)
iMate Jamin - same as the M500 but with built in wifi
iMate K-Jam - thicker version of M500/Jam with slide out keyboard and wifi.
Palm Treo 700 - Windows OS version of the Treo 650 but with a lower res screen (240x240 v 320x320) - no wifi
Eten M600 - slightly bigger than a Jam/M500 - has wifi
Eten G500 - as M600 has built in GPS and no wifi
Mitac Mio A701 - same size as Jam/M500 but with built in GPS
HP HW6510 - 240x240, keyboard + GPS, SD + mini SD slots
HP HW6515 - as above with camera
HP HW6910/5 - as HW6510/5 + wifi, mini SD slot only
