Which order would you keep?

Basically I've made two orders, one of which I need to cancel.

The first is for 2 Asus TOP HD7950s for £630~

The second is 2 EVGA GTX 680s for £750~

I will be gaming at 2560x1440 and most certainly be overclocking.

Can't say where I'm getting them from due to forum rules.

At the moment I'm strongly leaning towards keeping the GTX 680s as I feel performance should be slightly better and a chunk of the extra money spent could be recouped at resale. Additionally I've always preferred the nVidia software and having PhysX is a bonus. But it's been a while since I had an AMD card so maybe it's different now (2 5850s were my last) and I'm open to argument on saving myself £120 right now as well. :)

If your keeping them for a number of years 3-4 then I would get the 7950s, good overclockers and plenty of vram for future games. If you change your GPUs often then the 680s would be the ones to get for better performance and cooling. Not seen many reviews of the 680s in sli setup to be honest, but performance I don't think will be a problem.

Well, recently got 2 of the tops myself and quite happy with them. Will give more feedback in morning - off to play a round of BF3 and then bed :)

Tbh the reference vapour chamber coolers are normally very good anyway and paying for pre-overclocked cards is a bit of a waste really as it's pretty easy to do yourself for free.

7950 would be my option. In some reviews I've seen the GTX680 SLi and 7950 CF are about neck and neck. In non multi-GPU games the GTX680 wins.

Isn't it wise to wait for the custom coolers and overclocked 680 Gtx?

Perhaps so but that could potentially cost me an additional £100 for the 2 cards (the deal I have on the 680s is temporary) and they seem to run pretty cool and quiet with the stock coolers anyway.

At that resolution I would not rely on 2gb of vram.

Sorry if it goes against the grain, but I do think that will become a limitation sooner rather than later. And that is an awful lot of money to spend.

the 7950 is cheaper, and again just in my opinion the better option.

There are obvious downsides to the 7950 (drivers being one) but they are far cheaper.

They also carry custom coolers (well, the ones you have chosen) which will help matters.
