Which OS for Server/NAS

So i have a PC not being used

i7 940
12GB ram


i'm looking at turning it into a nas for storage and possibly a dhcp server.

i have 4x 3tb spare hdd you see. and as i have the pc already thought i just need a decent os.

was looking at whs 2011 is this good for £30 or be old to use now?

i tried linux few years ago but samba speeds where terrible (9mb/s) when i used win7 pro as test i was getting 70mb/s

Massive over kill if your going to want a NAS and DHCP.

I would sell the bits and buy a N54L, maybe reuse the RAM in the N54L.

Smaller foot print, less power, less noise.

WHS 2011 is fine, should do everything you want from it, its a bargain at £30.
