Which OS?

Im currently running Windows 7 Utimate 64bit BETA untill my new mobo gets here.

Im going back to Vista (previous was a dodgy copy ). Question is..

Whats the difference(s) between..

Vista Home Premium 64bit

Vista Ultimate 64bit

As i used to have ultimate, but i never needed a key, now it doesnt work since i put 7 on a new drive .

So can you help me?

Ultimate costs more, for a pile of features you'll never use.

I'd get Home Premium - Ultimate is expensive overkill.

If you need Remote Desktop/Domain stuff then get Business. Business doesn't have Media Center, but Home Premium does.

I used to use Ultimate.

So Premium is essentially Ultimate with Business removed?

Are those security things with Ultimate (Bit locker, Backup & Restore) just dumbed down versions of whats available for free?

Go Home Premium 64 bit. Backup & Restore can be found elsewhere for either cheaper or for free, with regards to Bitlocker, do a google search on it, I can't answer you for sure there.

TBH i have no-idea what bitlocker is, but ive got a 500Gb drive for baking up files, saves etc.

I'd much rather use robocopy which is already present in Vista anyway, can't fault it.

Bitlocker is basically an encryption program and uses the TPM BIOS so only works with certain hardware configs. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

I'd get Home Premium x64 which will suit you perfectly.
