Been thinking about this for ages If it's the 965, I can afford it on Teusday, if it's the i7, I can afford it in 2 weeks time. I'm more concerned about future upgrades than the performance difference. Which is likely to last longer as is, and which is more future-proof?

i7 mate.. Even though both are sata3. 1366 has plenty of life left and soon will have more 32nm chips.. It is also head and shoulders above the 965...

If you did end up wanting the AMD system it would be better to order the parts separately and overclock it yourself. You would be paying £40 for 0.4GHz increase.

Yep, or save £54 and switch to the 955 CPU, as it's also a black edition with an unlocked multi overclocking is pretty easy.
