Which paste to buy...

Which thermal paste to buy?

i have a tube of articsilver 5 but the tube is about 18 months old so i am going to bin it and buy some paste.

but which one, the good old trusted AS5 or do i go for the new kid on the block, arctic cooling MX2

this would be good for a poll....

Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound
or
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

Upto you, I doubt there's much difference anyway. I use the Silver 5 and get very nice idle/load temps tbh. Bargain.

MX-2 will perhaps be a few degrees cooler than as-5

From what ive seen, you certainly wont go wrong with as-5, tried and tested.

but i have read the mx stuff is a 'lil better.....

In your position I would probably give the MX a go, but ive got a newish tube of as-5 and im tight, so ill stick with it untill it gets old or i run out.

The AS5 should still be OK to use, it does sort of seperate but once you've got rid of the oily liquid you should just end up with a slightly thicker paste, don't bin it - keep it as spare just in case or if you really are going to bin it send it to me, I'm sure I'll make good use of it
