programming in sql and asp or network consultant?

basically these at the moment are two interests of mine. currently im working as a hardware and software configuration engineer. Basically i work on computers (fix them & configure them) and i test software and use it) Bit more complicated than that but you get the picture.

anyway I have a current interest in programming in asp.net and sql. If i can find out how to manipulate data in databases and present it in a decent fashion i think it would be promising as many small businesses need that. Also if i could go into the integration within the banking world to connect an interface with a database i'm sure that is very rewarding.

network consultant as in be proficient all round in networking and go round solving business networking problems and i.t solutions to businesses. basically improving or creating a network within a company.

Neither, they pay equally on terms of level and expertise. Both are 'wanted' skills thus both get moolah, also worth noting both are flooded with candidates willling to work for less than peanuts.

If you solely want money, get into management.

If your just interested in money get a job working for one of the big IT consultants for slave hours :p . Programming and network consultancy pay similar amounts. It all depends on experience and skillset.

The managers of those slaving consultants will be earning more :p

Anyway - without wanting to sound like an old fart (I'm only 24!) do what you enjoy.. don't go chasing the money you may get rich, but you'll be miserable.
