The only one I would consider subscribing to is pc format..
I quite like reading that but my local Tesco hasn't had that on the shelves for months. Plenty of copies of Nuts and Zoo and whatnot though. Might think about a subscription. Could even wangle it as a Christmas present off Mum.:D

I had a PC PRO subscription from around '93 to '97. It was good then. I still flick through it a few times a year. But seriously, with the Internet, why buy paper magazines? What's the point? What do you get with magazines that isn't available on line?

A) much easier to read on paper

2) you need to know what to search for on the internet, magazines will include stuff you haven't heard of before.

More comfortable in the bathroom with a magazine, people give you a funny look when you take a laptop with you, can't think why ;)

PC Format is my favourite but I don't buy PC mags any more. I think they're scandalously priced.
I think the subscriptions are the way to go. Cheaper prices and delivered to your door. I used to go out and buy F1 Racing every month but if WHSmith didn't have it I'd have to go to Tesco and if they didn't have it, it was a case of keep eyes peeled in all magazine shops. Now I subscribe to F1 Racing, cheaper prices and they send it to me.:)

True that subscriptions are cheeper but I still think the mags are overpriced. Was good value when you couldn't download stuff and you needed all that coverdisk stuff but no longer worth it.

Yeah I 'spose those of us with fast connections could opt for a DVD less version and save a few quid on the subscription price. Got a nice 6Mb connection at home. Come to Mama.:D

PC Format 1 Year 54.99 - £5 - Quidco saving = 49.99 with free Vantec pci cooler

Custom PC 31.99 with free case badge  :D

PC Format seems fairly pricey with Custom PC being much more reasonable which one should i go for

What is Quidco saving?

Personally I quite like PC Format. Wasn't that impressed with the few issues of Custom PC I bought. Suppose its down to taste and what you want a PC mag to be doing for you.

Give this a whirl if your thinking of CustomPC

3 issues for £1 with option to cancel at the end of it

There is also some mag deals, not just PC related, here: WHSmith Magazines including CD version of PC Pro

Yeah - I'll bite. I'm building a new "custom PC" in Feb so I'll grab three issues for a £1. *Makes note in diary to cancel after three issues*.
