Which PC for 4080…

I’ve got two very similar PC’s that my wife and I share one is intel and the other is AMD. We use mainly for gaming at 1440p currently 165hz. I have a 3070 in the AMD system currently and a 5700xt in the Intel.

Is it basically just s crap shoot to which PC should receive the 4080 or would I see much better performance in AMD? (I will be selling 5700xt)

If the 4080 is bottlenecking I could in the future upgrade to 5800x3d or the intel equivalent as I have a z690 board on intel and 570 tomahawk on the amd.

Intel i5 12400f
32gb ram

And ryzen 5800x
32gb ram

Hopefully would also like to upgrade the 4080 machine with a 4k monitor to take advantage of its power.

In my opinion putting the 4080 in the AMD system would be best suited, then move your 3070 to the Intel.

Either way both systems are great for 1440p display.

is that because the 5800x & 3600mhz CL18 is faster/better with the 4080

vs

the Intel i5-12400F 3200mhz

I may venture into 4k in the future if the Oled TV/Monitor I want goes on special.

Yes, it will help with performance. YouTube, may have a few Benchmark videos with both setups with the 4080, it should help with your decision.

Tried finding any data/info comparing the two with a powerful gpu… doesn’t seem to be a ton.

5800x seems faster from what I can see when the 4080 is crushing a slightly older game but not by a ton. AMD is in a meshify case.. lol so would have to swap out mb etc to move it all so for the moment 4080 is in the intel system.

The pricing of a future upgrade to 5800x3d seems attractive but I would imagine there id a similar performing Intel cpu ?
