Well, my daughter is 14 months old now. I finally have a "real" job, (so does my wife) and I turn 27 years old in October. It's about time I properly keep track of my finances.
I've installed Microsoft Money and it seems a bit too cumbersome. I'm heard Quicken / Quickbooks is a good one, but they have stopped supporting/selling it in the UK. It's imperative that it works with UK banks.

Which software do you use/recommend? Cheers guys.

Not sure what OS you are using, but if you maybe installed a copy of ubuntu linux you could use GNUCash which is great i use it a lot and it's free.

Excel works a treat for me mate, if you set it up correctly.
such a powerful application and as versatile as your knowledge of it allows you.

I've used an early version of Quicken for years now . Have all my bank/credit card accounts in it .Excellent program with password protection .The version I use was originally designed for Windows 95 but has worked with 98/ME and now XP without any problems .I also have a couple of newer versions I have never used .
I also have a Excel file for doing your accounts , you just open it up in Excel [naturally] and feed in your expenditure , earnings, outgoings etc ,and it tallys everything up at the end . Many people do there business accounts using Excel .
Anyway ,if your in the UK ,I can send you a CD of a working version of Quicken 5 . Not a copy I may add ,a geniune version for FREE If you want to try it .PM me if your interested.

Oops, damn , no PM's

Thanks for the offer, but I don't want to put you out; at least not yet. I do own Excel and for some reason it didn't really cross my mind to use it. The problem is, with my wife being self-employed, this is a large undertaking.
Does anyone maybe have a template or something I might be able to sortof use as a guide? I'd be very greatful.
If Excel isn't doing it for me though I will take you up on your offer for Quicken! :)

Sorry , I cannot access that part to send you a PM .All I get is:

rickyt, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
blah ,blah ,blah ,
