With my first mac on the way am just wondering which is the better and easier photo editor out of Photoshop, Lightroom or Aperture on the macs  the last one i used on the pc was photoshop 7 a while ago and thought it was ok but not fantasic and i no that the new cs4 is meant to be very good but could the other 2 be more for my liking, unless there is a free/cheaper alternative to them all for the mac

thanks for the help

Picasa (free) or iPhoto (not so free)

If youre looking to process RAW files then Aperture or Lightroom ar your best bets as youve mentioned.

Sorry yea i should have mentioned that i shot in RAW 100% of the time i will give the trials ago when i get my mac at least then i can see for myself ;)

edit: isnt iphoto 09 already on my mac as its stated on the apple site ???

The iLife suite, including iPhoto, comes with all new Macs. As you are shooting in RAW, you really need to consider Aperture or Lightroom and Photoshop. This may be of interest.

photoshop has the image editing abilities of lightroom but not the organisational / cataloging side of things, what you need really is lightroom for organising all your stuff and photoshop if you need to do touch-ups such as removing unwanted parts of the photo etc although other much cheaper software can also do this (maybe not as well though)

if you are intent on getting photoshop, see if bridge suits your needs for the organisational side of things, then trial lightroom and see if it suits you better :)
