Hey,

Currently in the market for a new 24inch monitor as I will be passing over my existing monitor to the over half.

Looking at general opinions it seems the Dell U2412M and Benq XL2420T are the most popular but I am stuck as to which I really want or need.

I use my rig for gaming, mainly RPGs and still a fair amount of FPS. D3 is my main game at the moment and will be for the foreseeable future. Rig is used for movies, surfing, etc. a lot as well.

So, opinions? The Benq is 'the' gaming monitor to have it seems but the Dell has better colours and picture quality - reviews also show it is still very responsive for gaming too. The higher resolution is a plus.

I would just get the BenQ for fun, and Dell for serious stuff. If you do primarily games, a 1080p will be fine.

Furthermore, 1200 takes a bit more out of the graphics card, so it also depends if you have a good GPU or something more fillrate-limited. Not much in it, but if you are in the lower end, every little helps. D3 ain't that taxing though.

Going to 120hz is one of the best things I did to my set up :)

So true, since the original poster states he plays a lot of fps games it's a no brainer of a choice. The colour and picture quality difference will not be as greater as going from 60hz to 120hz for your uses.(if you were doing photography/gfx design work with some gaming then sure the Dell is fine)

Once calibrated the BenQ XL2420T can look extremely impressive for a TN panel but when you see some games at 120fps like BF3 and the responsiveness of the monitor you will be amazed.
