Evening,

Just about to install W7 on new SSD and new board... again slightly confused as to which port/controller would be the best to install the SSD on.

Board: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3
SSD: Crucial M4

I have the SSD plugged in port SATA3_0 which is the 6gb/s SATA controlled by the Z68 chipset.

I have PCH Sata Control Mode set to AHCI and GSATA Ctrl Mode set to RAID.

Is this the correct setup? I don't need to the latest Intel RST drivers to load during setup do I? Thanks.

PCH is the CougarPoint Intel Controller, and should be AHCI and the SSD connected to it via the SATA3 port.

GSATA I believe is the additional JMicron SATA controller, which you should use when you run out of ports on the Intel controller.

The manual should tell you which port is which on the motherboard.
