Hi there,
I've been away from the PC scene for a while, so I'm looking for a little help in chosing a suitable graphics card for the occaisional game.
I don't want to pay over the odds simply because its the fastest thing since last month. What card should I be looking at at around the £100-£150 inc VAT mark? I want it to be silent, and not too power hungry either as it'll be sitting in an Antec Aria with a 300W PSU.
A look at the OcUK website seemed to show the HIS 1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E card as being the keenest priced of that particular chipset, but is it the one to go for? I've seen things like PCI-E power connector mentioned as an issue (does this have one?), and there's a thread further down about known issues with HIS? Would the Sapphire card with the Zalman cooler be a better bet? Is 512MB really neccesary or will the 256MB do? I don't feel the need to flex my e-peen by having large numbers in my sig, but if there are noticeable differences then it'd be something to consider.
Any help appreciated.
