Hi all,

Hopefully this is the right place to ask this.

I am currently looking into getting an all-in-one printer.
My dad has an HP PSC 2355 and it's really quick at copying and prints photos really well.(Though it is now being discontinued)

I was thinking of getting the same but then thought about looking for the next one up from it. However, a few of the HP printers that I have looked at, have had bad reviews - either its not good enough for the price or they all seem to have the same issue with paper not feeding through properly.

I've done a comparison of 4 and the two that i've narrowed it down to is the same as my dads and an Epson stylus RX560

The epson is slightly better as it prints more pages per minute and has a better scanner resolution but other than that the two pretty much match.

I have tried looking on google etc for reviews of the two but I can't seem to find anything.

Can anyone recommend which is better? Hp or Epson?

below is the product info for both printers

I would personaly go for the HP one due to the fact when you change the ink you get new printing heads on the ink but with the epson you dont get new heads and they tend to clog up (in my experience)

I've had 2 epson printers die on me (1 was a all in one CX5200) due to print heads and a family member has had 1, the printers aint had much uses at all as its very rare i print something so by the time its developed a fault its out of warranty with me.

Im looking to get a new printer also but looking down the laser route but im in no rush to get one as i've been with out one for almost 8 or so months now.

thank you for your feedback. after i posted the thread i looked at reviews on previous epsons and many were about how much the ink goes down even though its not being used and the annoyance of how it wont print if one cartridge is empty.

i think i will go with the HP my dad has - at least i know it works well

thanks again for the response :)

Hi

I did some work with HP and I got subjected to a lot of information about this kind of stuff

Epson printers can lose ink even when you change the cartridges

I would go for HP, they look nice, are well easy to use and can be had cheap.

I was working with 2 in particular the 2575 and the 4180

The 2575 has a slightly better scan res and an ethernet port and could be had at Currys for £99 (£130 in PC World) - the 4180 was £99 in PC World so the 2575 is better and the same cost.

They both have screens for photos and can be used independantly of a pc for small photo printing and photocopying.

They both come with FULL colour and black cartridges. If you want to do photo printing then you buy a seperate photo cartidge that you put in instead of the black - and then revert to colour and black for normal documents.

HP also do value packs for photo printing which gives you 100x paper and a photo and colour printer cartridge for about £28 (the cartidges are not both 100% full but you should get rougly 100 prints)

Those are both all in ones.

They also do decidcated photo printers(no copier or scanner tho) which can be cheaper and use 6 seperate inks

or they do similar all in ones without the LCD screens for photos liek the 1510.

The hp 3150(?) is a storming all in and one and does LAN and wifi to boot! The photo print from usb is awesome and the speed is very good.

thanks mo786 and kippermitten for your responses, i completely forgot about this thread lol

I decided on HP in the end but instead of getting the same as my dads, i bought the 2575 model for £89.99. i havent set it up yet as i need to sell my old printer but after reading your comments as well i think i definitely made the right choice

mo786 thanks for the advice on the cartridges and photo paper :)

I have an Epson & have never had any problems. In fact, I can praise it enough. Prints are excellent & the ink runs down very very slowely. Also new cartridges are only 99p each on the bay. You really cant go wrong with it :)

HP all the way - i wont touch an epson these days. Even though they have improved i still wouldnt use them.

If i was to choose i'd have the HP MultiFunction but if it was a normal inkjet you were looking for i'd have to have a Canon. :)

I bought a HP C4180 all in one (£99) and i'm very pleased with it. In my experience Epson printer heads clog up and Canon printers seem to spend half there life on a head cleaning cycle. So i opted to try something different and i'm glad i did the HP is a great little printer.
