which PS3 pease

i put the word out in work i was looking for one as i guessed a few of the youngsters would be looking to upgrade to a ps4 and then let them outbid thereselves for a sale

I'd just buy a 2nd hand one myself with a bunch of games.

Even for a present, if it's still boxed it will probably look as good as new. If the kid is young, they won't know, or won't care because of all the games. If they are older, just ask them if they would mind a 2nd hand one with loads of games + the rest of the money you saved spent on something else.

Either way, I'm sure they wouldn't care.

When looking at a product and looking at new vs used I decided based on how a product is 'used'. A console sits there on a shelf and gets 1 or 2 buttons pressed on it now and then. So it's not really 'used' in the same sense as say and item of clothing.
Buy a NEW controller - that's the only part that wears visually really. I sold a PS3 few months back and other than controller it looked as good as the day I bought it.

Everyone I know with Slims have had then in use 20-30 hours a week for 5-6 years with no issues.

I love my super slim. I'd get it over a slim and would never even give a 2nd thought to buying a 2nd hand slim over a super slim.

Playstation 3 Slim 500gb bundle with Gran Turismo 6 and The Last of Us can be had for around £200, that's what I would go for, Googles your friend for on-line retailers or check out your nearest big Major Supermarket for stock in-store.

This!! I understand all the others saying the slim is better built as it looks and feels better to use but the super slim has a far better reliability record amongst people I know. The major fault being the slot loading drive, I have had issues and heard of so many issues with these, even beyond ps3's. Wii's were very reliable but when they did go wrong it was the slot loading drive that gave up. I've also encountered numerous slot loading drives on laptops failing.

Long story short, although the super slim is cheaper looking and noisier, if I had to own only one more ps3 for the rest of time, without doubt it would be a super slim as in my opinion it will stand the test of time.
