I just bought an antec 1200 case and am looking into putting an e8600 or quaddy in it with a HIS 4870 1024mb video card. I am using 2 gig of corsair 1066mhz ram and was wondering what sort of PSU i will need roughly. I was looking at a corsair 650watt supply. will this be enough?

Many thanks in advance, any info is appreciated!

That will be fine.

It varies, but generally the pc will become unstable during high load activities (gaming, benchmarking etc). Or if it's a poor quality PSU (aka Q-Tec) it could just go bang, hence why buying a good quality power supply is important, although often overlooked.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as you buy something that is a good make (Corsair, Enermax, Seasonic etc) and it's good enough for your current components and many a few upgrades you should be sorted. Its money well spent.
