i am going to put two EVGA 9800 GTX+ cards in SLI, a core 2 duo cpu, one 300gb velociraptor, and a 500gb standard hdd.

which psu would you recommend for my setup

Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Modular Power Supply
OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply
OCZ Fatal1ty 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU

Thanks :)

None of them. Certainly avoid the OCZ rubbish. At a push the Corsair but it's not modular.

Try looking at the Zalman heatpipe range or the PC Power and Cooling silencers.

I use the OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply and have had no problems for over a year it runs quite and cool, ignore the fan boys who say there crap, there are enough unbiased reviews to prove them wrong. However everyone is allowed there views, the only reason im changing is the modular is much neater and the Thermeltake 1200w tough power is my next purchase (adding a bit more future proofing) :D

I think most on here will tell you that's a bad choice. A lower output high-quality build PSU would be far better.

I'm a fan of Corsair PSUs but I wouldn't recommend the TX750, I have one and under load it's the noisiest thing in my case. It's also in a P180, which has a seperate PSU section, so it's not the temp, just the load. Also the fact it isn't modular is a real pain.

The Corsair modular PSUs are pretty nice, but I'd also suggest you take a look at the Enermax range.

Enermax for me every time, they're not cheap but get what you pay for and all the components such as capacitors and transformers are the best quality. They can still blow up though, but thankfully less often than other makes - and if they do go pop there's a lot of protection there for your other expensive components. Shame OcUK don't stock them now, and annoying that the parent company dumped the UK so all service is done elsewhere in the EU.

is this through speaking from experience or just another "I read a review" comment? I'd be interested in knowing why and how you came to this conclusion.
