I am getting the BFG GeForce GS OC 256MB GDDR3 card soon. But I have realised a flaw. I currently have a cheapo 450W PSU and wondered if the new GFX card will sap too much power. So bassically I was wondering what I should do. Rest of PC specs are below.

TIA

If it is a non name cheapo PSU, and I am asuming your card is the 7800 or 6800 GS then you will need a new PSU, the cheap ones just do not provide enough amps for a modern card usually.

Any well known brand of 400w and above will be ample. :)

Tagan
Seasonic
Enermax
FSP

Take your pick. :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have heard good stuff about the Enermax and the Targan, so i'll go with them. Are you sure that 400W will be enough? I want to OC my Processor a bit more.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I would want one that power cables not in use can be removed by unplugging them. and I have a AXT Case.

400w+ will handle your rig no trouble, especially as a cheap on of 450w can. :)

ATX and modular; all of the brands I listed bar Seasonic from OcUK do modular I think.

You are looking for a

Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG)

Or

Enermax Liberty 400W ELT400AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CA-026-EN)

They are both rated for SLI, so will run a single card rig well. I would personally buy the Tagan. :)

I'd agree that Tagan is probably the one to go for out of those two, I personally wouldn't recommend either of them for SLi I'd suggest 450w+ but that doesn't really apply here so Tagan is a good choice :)

Another vote for the Enermax. :)

Enermax also comes with the build in surge protector thing ? i think, i dont know about the Tagan though
