Looking to get a new PSU. Needs to power the rig in my sig, plus a later rig that will be an E4300 based rig with a 8800GTS 320Mb or maybe a 8600 Ultra depending on the price.

Which of these is the better? Im leaning towards the Tagan :

OCZ ModStream 450w ATX2.2 Power Supply

Tagan TG480-U01 480W ATX2.0 SLi Compliant Silent PSU

Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU

Enermax Liberty 400W ELT400AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

Limited budget of £55

The Tagan and Enermax both have the strongest rails (30A on 12V), I would go with the Tagan as it has more wattage behind it.

What are the power consumption stats for the 8600 Ultra and lower memory 8800?

Not sure but i used the psu calculaor and it didnt have a 8800GTS listed so i picked a 8800GTX instead and it came up to 396w.

I dount the GTS 320Mb or 8600 ultra will use as much power so should be fine with the 480w tagan

Be careful though its not always about how many watts the PSU holds, the rails are much more important to take note of. They say that the 8800 should have a minimum of 500W+ and 600W+ recommended.

The catch with the GTX is that it requires two (2) PCI-E power adapters, & you only get that on 500W+ PSU, which also coincidentally are the ones with more than 2 +12V Rail(s). Otherwise 450W is enough for a single card system

Ive been online reading some reviews and it seems that the 400w Enermax Liberty has the strongest 12v rails, providing upto 30A, compared to 28A of the 480w Tagan and 26A of the tagan modular.

Got that PSU & quite impressed by-it so far, though not running anything heavy on it.

That said, 15A (or 20A) on each +12V Rail is leaving it a-bit low :(

My advise to you is close your eyes, stop cutting corners (considering the kit you plan to get) & go for the excellent Corsair HX 520W ;)

It is only another £15 or so for the Corsair, depends how tight the budget is. Would be worth it though, got to look at future proofing. Its not always a good idea to just get enough.

Hi all

Narrowed my search down to the corsair hx 620w and the seasonic m12-700w..

Which is the better option do you think..want to upgrade to a 8800gts shortly!

Bit of a hijack here but what would be the PSU recommendation for a 8800GTX/6700/2GB 2-3 HDs setup with the possibility of getting another GTX for SLI?

Well the Seasonic has 56A on the 12V (4x18A) and the Corsair has 50A on the 12V (3x18A). So the Seasonic is probably going to be stronger as it has quad rails, but how much is the price difference?
