Hi guys,

I'm planning to build a new pc soon but not sure what PSU requirements I may need. I plan to get get an Q6600 (OCd), GTX260 216, 8gig ram, 3x 500gb hard drives, DVD+R.

any suggestions would be much appreciated.

thanks
Quyeno

500-550W would suffice, just make sure its a decent make, alternatively you may want to go for 700-750 to allow for future upgrades (dual gfx)
Modular would help with cable management
What is your approx budget

cool. my budget is about 800 or so. whihc brands would you guys say are relaible? I'll definately consider Enermax (ol faithful), Seasonic and Corsair, but whihc other brands OC stock are worth considering? I'd rather get recommendations than rely on reviews, word of mouth is better in my books.

thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

I presume you mean 80 not 800? lol BeQuiet, Zalman, PC P&C
Id go for either
A) BeQuiet 550W modular £84
pros: modular - easier cabling
cons: no room for future upgrade
B) PC P&C 750W £90
pros: headroom for future upgrade
cons: not modular so if you have any unused cables you'll have to tuck away, which depending on your case can be easy or not

Note the Seasonic Silverpower 500W Power Supply, is a Silverpower Brand PSU, made by Seasonic. Don't confuse it with the higher quality Seasonic Branded PSUs. OC being a bit naughty. :p

It's probably a reasonable PSU, but not in the same league as Seasonic, BeQuite, PC P&C etc.
