Which PSU?

The Antec's a good unit, but you might as well save £10 and get the Seasonic G series 750, as its Seasonic internals anyway but the Seasonic has the same 5 year warranty, the same thermal fan management and is also 2cm shorter (a minor point maybe, but it will fit in some cases the Antec can't).

Unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment :(

Tell a lie, no it's not, there are 7 in stock.

Wheres this suggestion come from, I cant see it in this thread?

see below..

EVGA as just rebadged Seasonic ones Huddy :)

Stelly

And lol at Huddy repeating himself :D Triple post ftw.

Haha, yeah I love the cable kits, proper PSU to component cables instead of extensions, but yeah £60 goes along way on other more useful things.

been happening to a lot of my posts of late.. I'll have to give admin a darn good thrashing :p

At the very begining yes. They built their reputation on High quality units before swapping to cheaper, lesser quality units while keeping the prices high. Prime example is the CX series. The original CX400 was miles better than the units that replaced it. Seasonic now only make three psu's (that's not three ranges, just three actual units) for Corsair and i suspect that will not last for much longer.

My favorite at the moment are the Coolermaster Vanguard series, Seasonic internals, flat modular cables, and silent PWM fan. It's like the best of all worlds lol.

If the XFX has "BEFX" at the end of the model number, it's the fully modular version of the Black Editions (made by Seasonic). Supposed to be a good unit alright. Their predecessors were also called Black Editions, but were only semi-modular.

I think all of the XFX units are Seasonic, I don't think they use any other OEM.

It's a real shame the selection on OcUK has diminished.

Having the 3 price points with bronze, and silver semi modular's and then the gold fully modular's was great.

The XFX Pro Series range look to have hybrid fans with their 750W model and up:

Hybrid mode when activated, allows your fan to stay off when your computer is idle but turns on automatically when the PSU needs it.
Operates Silently until it reaches 20% load or 25°C
Switches to Quiet Mode (only 16dBA)
Reaching 50% load which Cooling Mode to cool the PSU appropriately

The Antec High Current Pro range all have:

Thermal Manager - An advanced low voltage fan control for optimal heat & noise management

Same for the HCG-***M range but not the HCG-*** range.

The cheaper Seasonics looks to have:

Smart & Silent Fan Control [S2FC]

While the Proseries and X-series have:

Seasonic Hybrid silent Fan Control *(Patent Pending)

PDFs here: http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/datasheet/NEW/Retail/

Excluding the Corsair CX and VS range the rest look to have "zero RPM fan" up to around 20%, some up to 70%.
The HX range, in general seem to ramp up pretty fast.
The AXi ramp up pretty quick but the non Corsair Link equivalents remain at 0% until 60/70% load.
The RM range all ramp up at 40% load but even then still at a low 10dB. They also come with:
...capacitors and transformers carefully selected to eliminate coil whine and other background noise that can be annoying in quiet environments.
The TX 650 range ramp up at 35%, the 750 range at 30% while 850 range at 20%. All fairly aggressively except the 650 range.
The GS range ramp up at 25% fairly fast.

I've got a XFX Black Edition Modular and its bloomin fantastic! Really pleased with it. Wish Ocuk would stock more XFX stuff like the others have said.
