Which PSU?

Hey Gang,

It's looking like my old XFX 850W PSU is going to the big gaming rig in the sky. :(

So - two questions:

1) Which brand/model of PSU are the cool kids (or people who actually know their stuff) using these days?

2) Do I really need 850W again? Makes a fair difference in price. I have a single 290X, ~6 HDDs and a Blu Ray drive. Nowt else.

Bear in mind I have to keep the price as low as possible, but I don't want to skimp unnecessarily and risk destroying all the nice stuff.

Cheers,

DF

Superflower is now the brand to have.

The ones they're pushing on the site? They look sexy, but I never heard of them before. I must look for some reviews.

I'd probably go to 750W anyway for the sake of a few squids. After that, they go to 1000W.

I would go Seasonic. They make a lot of PSU's for the other companies.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic 660w '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply £113.99
Total : £123.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

This one has great reviews and is "Platinum" certified.

Hmm...does seem good, but I'm not sure I should go from 850W to 660W.
Makes me a little nervous, although I guess that's due to my ignorance in this general area. The price of the 750W version is creeping a bit out of my range at the moment.

The HardOCP review of this looks a little disappointing. I think I'm leaning toward the Super Flower 750 Green Plus Gold at the mo.

Don't believe the Golden Green is modular, and remember there's always people who think something is bad and something is good :)
