what features should I be looking for in a PSU?

atm its for an old pc but going to be using it with something like an i5 6/7600 in the near future, then maybe a 1070 or 1080 added at some point

Hello again.

What's your budget - is relative silence a factor and would you like it working near it's max or just breaking a mild sweat when everything is pushing it to the max?

A quality 650w would do the job but 750w would run without breaking a sweat and give you room for upgrades - but not 1080 sli (well they recommend 850 - but I've read 750's running them)...

EDIT: I should have added i'm a Corsair fan - but BeQuiet, Superflower are all excellent PSUs - as are others.

Most are silent when idling - but had recent forum discussion that the BeQuiet is very quiet even under load.

thanks...
budget, was thinking £70ish but not set at that
bit strange...never realised how loud my pc was until it stopped working, so accustomed to the noise! using an old Dell 1545 just now, to me it's silent
had no idea of what power to get, wasn't sure if PC's use more or less now!...750 is prob what I'll go for, might end up never getting a gaming card but no harm in lots of headroom...

had good experience with EVGA in the past too, the card I was using was an evga that I had previous to the last one that died..will check them out

Got a bit paranoid that something in my old PC might have damaged the goosed PSU so went for a cheap cheap one for now.
Plus if it keeps working I'll have a spare PC!
