Hello,

I am an AS/A2 Computing teacher and currently teach VB.Net to my groups at this age. We teach VB.Net due to having a Microsoft site licence which ensures we get access to this software easily.

Some of you might be aware that government changes have led to schools needing to introduce a GCSE in Computing (which is fantastic). This means we are adjusting certain aspects of the way we teach AS/A2 though to avoid crossover.

From September, my intention is to teach VB.Net to GCSE students and offer Python at AS/A2. However, while the programming and learning of the language won't be an issue, I could do with some help on selecting an appropriate IDE for teaching with.

For testing purposes we have installed PyScripter, however I want to get the best I can. What would you recommend as a good development tool for the language or have I already picked the 'best of the bunch'.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Tom

@TomWilko,

Abit of topic I was listening to the guys at work their children are learning PL/SQL etc just an idea :)

Firstly, thank you for the replies. Certainly going to look into what has been suggested.

With regards PL/SQL, we are tied to what the exam board state, which in this case does not include this. Vb.net, Pascal, Java, PHP and Python are my choices.
