I understand there are a couple of different types of Q6600 out there, one being better than the other. I keep hearing about "Energy Efficient 95 edition" and "G0 Stepping L2 8MB Cache".

Can someone elaborate which I should go for and why?

Thanks,

Jon

well OcUK only stock one kinda of Q6600 which is the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB). So thats your only choice if your buying from here, just need to decide if you want a retail or OEM chip

The G0 is the energy efficient one. The two different ones are the Q6600 B3 Stepping and the Q6600 G0 Energy Efficient. The G0 runs cooler and overclocks more :)

"Energy Efficient 95 edition" is just another name for "G0 Stepping L2 8MB Cache". as long as it's a G0 stepping ( SLACR or SLACQ )

I'd love to get a second hand G0 Q6600 but I don't trust ebay (im sure they have had uber volts through them), and have not posted enough and for long enough for the members market (which by my luck will be empty when I check it out eventually.)
