which quiet / custom card?

Hi ,


need to decide on gpu for my i7 build. Will be used to run 24" screen at 1920x1200, gaming and photo work.

can't decide between the gtx275 and the 4890, I've read all the threads here as well as dozens of reviews.

would prefer to run a cool n quiet card, cooling being paramount. noise is largely irelevent - my case damps noise pretty well.

choices seem to be:

asus 4890 dual fan - standard or TOP

sapphire 4890 vapor-x 1 gb

only gtx275 I can find is the gainward one


Anyone have any thoughts or ideas for different options?

Quiteness and performance goes to the Nvidia GTX 275, apparently the ATI Radeon 4890 is quite the noisy graphics card.

Not unless you buy a Vapour-X 4890.

any other thoughts? Have no experience with newer ati cards, physx seems under used currently so would consider the 4890.

Considering the price is 2 4890 vapor x cards faster better quieter cooler than a 4870x2?
