Hi

I am in the market for a GPU upgrade and have decided on a R9 390,
But which model should I get?
The choice comes down to the following 3 :

Asus R9 390 STRIX
Sapphire R9 390 Nitro OC
MSI R9 390 Gaming

All 3 come with a backplate which matters. Other things that matter to me are performance and sound. However I don't care much about powerusage.
I game at 1080p at the moment.
I don't know which of the 3 is the best choice in terms of component, power phase, sound and performance?
So what are your recommendations?

MSI edges it on speeds (if you use the "OC Mode") - other than that they're all about the same in every regard.

Without doing detailed searches online, the MSI would be the one to go based on specs alone.

Happy to be proven wrong. Alternatively, they're all so closely matched - get the cheapest.

Got a MSI 390 myself recently. Absolutely love the thing!
Cheap, clocks well and what was most important for me is that it's dead silent and doesnt go above 70 degrees (in my case)

I did forget to add, as above, MSI is pretty tasty - I'm rocking an MSI, too - no complaints (in-fact, quite the contrary, I'll sing MSI's praises)

Got an MSI too and its silent in desktop mode but even with Afterburner @ 30% its still whisper quiet. During gaming it cranks up obviously but its no worse than anything else I've heard. Got to admit its a good looking card if you have a side window. I'm tempted to get a second for the looks alone lol

The Powercolor one is a decent piece as well. Only drawback is the too aggressive fan profile which ramps up the fans too fast. I made a custom profile in MSI AB with a max of 46% (1900rpm), and it tops out around 70C, and barely audible....and it was £60 less than the MSI :)

MSI, Sapphire or Powercolor (if you want to risk the poor RMA support)

Never touch asus amd cards with a 10 foot pole.

Not to start a fan boy war, but I just checked the prices. The r9 390s are all around 270-280 gbp where I live and there are no deals to be had at the moment. But while I was browsing around I found a kfa2 gtx 970 exoc for 250 gbp. Since I game at 1080p would that be a better choice?
