Not many people seem to be playing GTL online anymore and so I'm after a new Sim.

It must have Good online support/server/people.

So, which is it to be?

GTR2

Live 4 Speed

rFactor?

I fancy trying some league play out as well so I'll also be looking for a good one.

I tryed GTR2 yesterday and hated it. I vote LFS. Download the demo and have a look for yourself :)

Personally I love GTR2, nice balance between sim and arcade racing (depending on which driver aids you choose), but I've also got rFactor and love that!!!
Be warned though, rFactor is very much dependant on mods rather than the stand alone game so you might want to see whats available first!!!

rfactor is great, the Aussie V8 mod (V8factor) is just amazing, it really is awesome.

I got GTR 2 yesterday too, and it is supurb in simulation mode. I love the physics, it's a lot more controllable in oversteer than rFactor.

As much as I love rF, after a certain amout of degrees sideways the physics just seem to 'let go', and it's virtually impossible to avoid a spin.

In GTR 2 not only is it easier to catch it before it spins, but you can actually hold a drift more easily. It's very difficult to hold a drift in rF. Strange as they share the same Gmotor-2 engine

The force-feedback in GTR 2 is just amazing too, whereas in rF it takes a fair bit of tweaking to get right.

Both are great sims though

this is true. playing GTR2 in the wet is a lot of fun. you feel the car begin to slide as you accelerate out of a soaking wet bend and you start to compensate on the wheel and find the right level of acceleration - then the car coasts beautifully through the corner.

just a great feeling.

I would say Live For Speed if it's online racing you're after.

I found with rFactor/GTR/GTL that the online experience was pretty poor. The races are set up with a practice session, then qually, then the race...so you can't really just start the game and jump online and start racing. Also you can't even join the servers when the race has started.

With LFS, you can join the server and get a couple of practice laps in (respect the blue flags :)) unless the host has specified no mid race join, but you can still watch and learn by spectating the faster drivers.

There are plenty of leagues as well, catering for all tastes when it comes to car type. Take a look at the events section of the official forums.

You should definitely give the demo a whirl to see if you like the feel of the physics engine, but be warned that as you don't have to register a racername for the demo there are a nearly always a couple of muppets on the demo servers who just want to play dodgems. Try and find one run by a team, they generally have an admin on them.

GTR2 all the way :D

GTR2 SS

Heres just an SS of a Dubai race at the start.

Edit: LFS is a good sim but the sounds just ruin it for me so I can never feel "immersed".
