So I've set up my G29 again and have been playing a bit of Project Cars lately, but I'm looking for something a bit more singleplayer progression based..

- Realistic-ish handling .. i.e. No Need for Speeds!
- Good graphics
- Works with the G29
- Singleplayer progression
- better-than-project-cars AI

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I think the Grid series would suit you. Can be had on the cheap from Kinguin and other places I'm sure.

If you want the best driving experience then this is where it falls flat a bit. Assetto Corsa is absolutely amazing but there is no progression unless you count the events/career which is kind of just setting up races for you in different scenarios. It's more aimed at the sim crowd or people who just love hotlapping over and over again. Dirt Rally is more of the same but obviously with the Rally flavour.

Perhaps give Forza a try if you have Windows 10

That game doesn't exist on any platform.

The best AI right now is in AC, but even then it's far from perfect.

Non of the PC sims have a decent single player, pCARS is probably the best at this.

The AI in Forza 6 on the Xbox One goes from totally stupid and slow to wreck fest inducing cheats.

AI in GT6 aren't even AI, they follow the same predetermined lines every time.

It may be worth trying GRID Auto Sport, but maybe someone else can elaborate on how close it meets your needs.

I've got every GRID game here.

Handling is arcadey and quite.. unique to say, damage is very good, sounds are good etc. GRID Autosport works with the G29, has a decent sized career and plenty of events.

I wouldn't say grid as it's not remotely realistic at all. The problem your going to have is with single player progression, the main sims don't have any. Iracing, Aseto Corse, RFactor 2, Automobilsta, RaceRoom are the main sims people play but don't have that single player progression. F12016 may have what your looking for but I've not played it. I wish I really liked Project Cars but I can't get two laps with out getting punted off the track by AI.

Thanks, that's a shame, though I'm happy enough with Project Cars for a bit, I've only used a few cars on a few tracks repeatedly so I still have a huge amount to explore there.

I'll give AC a go.

I've played GRID Autosport a fair bit on PC with controller, no complaints about singleplayer or AI but I couldn't get the G29 working well with it..

I gave Forza 6 APEX beta a quick try, was quite impressed - again, with controller, as G29 wouldn't work which is apparently intended until release - could be a good one once it's out.

Did you have to do anything special for the G29 to work? Mine simply wasn't detected automatically and I had to bind everything manually.

I wouldn't mind sacrificing realism on Grid as long as the handling was good on the wheel to be fair.

I'm not really into F1 but if it has good career or progression then I'd be tempted to give it a go.

I don't play with assists anyway :D

I'll try F1.

Dirt Rally is off the table though haha, I'm so bad at that and not sure I want to spend all the time that's required to get good :D Fun game though

Dirt 2 & 3 are decent with a wheel and a bit more forgiving and approachable than Dirt Rally.

Maybe if Sony can see that Microsoft don't loose out by putting their exclusive on PC, we may see the next GT game on PC as well.
