Hi,

I am going to WC my cpu, NB and VGA. I have an opteron 146 and an MSI Neo2 Platinum and a 6800.

Would a 120.1 radiator do, or do i need a 120.2?

I also already have an alphacool 600 pump http://www.alphacool.de/xt/product_...s-alphacool-agb-eheim-600-station-ii-12v.html
and am wondering if this will be good enough for cooling all that (i can leave out NB if necessary).

I have a raidmax cobra case and will therefore have to mount the rad outside so size is no problem. also going for silence too so i want to use slow fans. i also want to overclock my opteron (is at 2.7 atm).

thanks

I'd go with a 120.2 for that setup, the Swiftech one OcUK sell is cheap and works a treat (currently have one here). Paired up with a couple of very cheap Xinrullian 120mm fans (actually these are great for the price) you'll have plenty of cooling power.

I'd be tempted to go for a better pump such as the AquaXtreme 50z or DD 12V.

no can do about the pump as i already have that :( however it is going to be used on a future build as a secondary loop pump :)
should i take out the NB to make it less of a strain on the pump?

oo yea i forgot:
with the vga block I have memory heatsinks too, will they be ok without the airflow from my zalman vga cooler, or do i need to provide a fan? there will be case airflow.

thanks

if you are going to mount externally get a 120.2 as it will see you better for longer into the future, and get some nice quiet fans to pair with it. The thermochill PA120.2 rad I bought is very good and Thermochill state that you can use fans as low as 23CFM on it - so buy a couple Acousti Fans, Silent Eagles or Akasa Ambers and you have a very quiet rig :)

I have the Laing DDC 12v Pump with the plexi top and it r0x - just make sure u dont screw it to ** case with the so called "vibration dampners" as they are about as much use as a chocolate teapot..just sit it in some foam and wedge some smalle bits in beside it..

looks like im going for a 120.2 then :D

do you think the pump will cope with all the blocks and the bigger rad, or should i go without the NB block?

thanks

I wouldnt bother with it, if you find you want one when your set up you can add one in, but on the whole I dont see that they are really needed for most users :)

Rather than watercooling your NB you might get away with using a Zalman Passive heatsink, or just stick a silent fan at the front of your case and have a bit of airflow perhaps?

Got a PA120.3 in the MM, i ran my P4@4Ghz passive till i got fans and temps were more than safe

Do remember smaller fans normally generate a lot more noise than larger fans because they have to spin so fast to shift very little air. I find that NB fans and VGA fans are the worst. Though this largely depends on what kind of noise bothers you most. I personally can't stand the awful whining noise small fans make.

I watercool the VGA CPU and NB in my PC and bought an efficient PSU with a 120 in the bottom and an 80 in the back and the whole system is now almost in audible the only noise I have now is my hard disks which I'm going to suspend with elastic to remove vibrational noise. :)

you dont have any fans cooling your rad? is it mounted externally then?
