I'm Currently using the following

2GB Corsir 3500LL
Core 2 [email protected]
Asrock 775i65G
Gainward 6800GT
Antec 480 Watt True Blue

I have been waiting for the new 8800 nvidia boards to come out which they have. My upgrade so far includes the following

8800 GTX
evga N-Force 680i
Tuniq Tower 120
Either 700 W Seasonic Modular or 900 W Tagan PSU

I'm a bit up in the air about the RAM to get

I have narrowed it to the following any advice welcome. I would like the option to run at 1066@5,5,5,15 and 800@4,4,4,12

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C4 TwinX

there isn't a huge difference in price on these so any of them would be fine.

Any thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Looks like I'm gonna go for these

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX

Anyone had any experience getting them up to 1066@5,5,5,15

thanks

We have done it in the lab but, of course, we only "guarantee" the PC6400 to run at PC6400. However, the PC6400C4 is a better (higher) bin of IC than the 8500C5 so it should run PC8500 at 5,5,5,15 timings as well as 4,4,4,12 at PC6400. Of the 2, you made the best choice with the Dominator PC6400C4.

That's something I've always wanted to know. I would have assumed that the pc8500C5 would have been an equal or better bin than the pc6400C4.

Cheers dude I actually ordered the 8500 stuff luckily it isn't in stock i'll change that methinks and save myself £50 quid.

Many thanks

It's a bit odd as it is not necessarily a direct correlation of tighter latencies or higher speeds. The Micron ICs are much harder to bin for LL than they are for pure speed. So, one is not necessarily "better" than the other per se but, one requires more time and effort to make.

Mike.
