Not sure if this is allowed in here.

Looking to build a C2D system soon either a E6300/E6600. Anyway my mates currently on holiday in Florida and seeing as the ram prices over here are ridiculous I may as well take advantage of him being there.

Looking to get 2x 1gb (2gb) which would be the best to get for the above CPU/S?

Thanks

Depends what your mobo can handle?

For example: The new 680i can handle PC8500 and above memory.
Thinking about getting a cheap P5W or the like with a view to go 680 when there prices are more reasonable. Was only looking for 6400 or would it be worth getting 8500? Cant find that Crucial Tenth Anniversary memory on any US sites.

Be a little careful of HM Customs and Excise - they are usually OK with a few components, but theoretically anything over £30 is technically liable to import duty and then VAT. In the past I would have carried 2 sticks of RAM through security no problem, but now everything has to go in the luggage. Someone I know brought a £2000 mountain bike back and he was really unlucky that the Customs Officer on duty was a mountain biker and his 'bargain' was suddenly very expensive.
Thanks for the heads up but it would still work out cheaper even if the customs kicked up a fuss.

Really depends on the mobo, the g.skill HZ sets are meant to be good. And you cant go wrong with corsair aswell!
Was thinking along the lines of a Asus P5W DH Deluxe. Which Corsair type mate?

ugh no...

if your going to be buying a set from the US you will most likely be unable to take up any warranty/rma they offer...

so stay away from brands/models with questionable reliability - especially ballistix...

infact I'd stay away from anything made by

crucial
corsair
geil

if I didn't have a decent warranty with it...

personally I'd go for OCZ or G.Skills memory tho they might not be the cheapest... my 6400 HZ have worked in just about every motherboard I've tried them in without any issues and clock upto 1071 (from 800) on stock settings alone...
Which OCZ would you recomend mate. Do you know if the HZ's are renamed something else, maybe HU?
