Hi as per subject line, I would like to know which ram I should purchase for the Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 I will be putting a Intel Q6600 G0 SLACKR in it and hopefully running it at 3.0 ghz and may secumb to the 'delights' of Vista sometime in the future.

Am I better to go for x4 1GB sticks, or x2 2GB sticks, do I buy the 'cheap' ie: £40 ones, or the more expensive £80 ones? Ram as you can probably tell, confuses the hell out of me :(

Can anyone recommend me some suitable RAM please?

Thanks.

What huddy says. I've got a gigabyte X38-DS5 and I've had 4 x 1gb geil 6400 ULL (this did limit the overclock a bit btw) and currently running with 2 x 2gb ocz pc6400 with no probs at all.:)

Depends on the orientation of your CPU cooler. The fan on my Arctic cooling freezer is just above the memory on my p5kc so it blows air to the back.. If you have a water block or using the standard HSF, they should be fine. However, you have to ask why you really need these tbh.

Quite simply, they look to be the better deal and match your sugested requirements ie: PC2-6400C4 and for a little more cash than the other chips on the same page, I could get 4GB where all the other offers are for 2GB's.

I purchased: Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) (Deal Product) what can I say, I don't even know my own mind. But it looked like a good price, so I went for it with a couple of other bits.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.
