Which RAM is better? Higher speed or lower latency?

Corsair 8-8-8-24 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

or

G.Skill 9-10-9-28 PC3-14900 1866MHz?

Both around the same price.

It's for a 2600K system based on an Asrock Extreme7 Z68 (Ivy Bridge compatible if that makes any difference for future upgrades). Looking to do some overclocking once I've run everything at stock for a while and find it stable.

Both Sandybridge RAM guides I have seen, suggest normal latency (C8/C9) at 1600mhz is all you need.

Thanks, quick off the mark as usual stulid!! :) I've been reading similar but it appears 1866 @ 9 may have a slight edge over 1600 @ 8 but there's almost nothing in it. I know nothing about Ivybridge but seeing as my motherboard will be supporting it, would it be beneficial in going for any particular RAM looking in the long term?

As Stulid says, stick with 1600MHz CL8/9 and don't spend a penny more than you need to. Just ensure it is also a good brand, comes with a lifetime warranty and runs at 1.5V.

Here is a good article that shows how much higher frequency/ lower latency memory affects gaming performance using a sandy bridge system (the test uses a stock i7 2600K and a GTX 580).
