Which Ram to go for

I’m thinking of buying a Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R MB and Ram to suit for a new build.

I’ve never clocked before so I’m looking for Ram which will not limit the performance ‘out of the box’ but which will clock well/easily if I eventually decide to have a go.

CPU will be either an Intel E6600, E6750 or E6850.

I’ll be using XPPro initially but almost certainly Vista at some stage and am tempted towards 4 GB whilst Ram is supposedly relatively cheap.

I’ll be fitting a Noctua NH-U12F Heatsink.

Is this Ram: [ Link ] GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC), which is on special at the moment, a good option or are there better alternatives.

Thanks for the reply.

If I didn't clock presumably the PC6400 would be a better prospect.

The PC5300 is obviously a fair bit cheaper than the PC6400

I want to keep my options open.

I was quoting Corsair for PC5300 and PC6400 with a difference of £29 per 2 GB.

I look forward to further guidance – thanks.
