Sorry about another one of these threads... but i just dont have a clue when it comes to choosing memory. Ive been looking at PC2-8500 stuff (overkill? do i need such good ram) well im happy to spend the cash ive been looking at

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 £135

Is this a good choice? could anybody recommend any better or maybe cheaper for same performance?

(Link at all 8500 ram choices http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-082-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817)

Thanks for any help!

Just got myself 4gb of the Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300C3. From all the info I have read this stuff will OC pretty good and its a good deal @ £81.06 inc VAT for 2GB.:D

It might get cheaper as others have said, but if it gets any cheaper it's not going to be by much surely! Memory prices were sky high compared to a few weeks ago.

That or the PC8500 Ballistix.

Tho some of us believe that the PC5300 Ballistix is the exact same stuff.

Interesting indeed. Im still kind of swaying towards the OCZ though im not particularly interested in overclocking the ram either...

But if that is true then id probably buy the Pc 5300 memory and OC it to 8500 levels if what you say is true. :)

Also what about the pc 8500 corsair ram? seems a little pricey. But does it perform any better?

Your call, but I kinda like the idea of OC'ing the Ballistix to see what I can get out them, you takes your chance but that's the fun right.

If your not going to want to OC and want 2GB then there's nothing wrong with the OCZ or the Crucial 8500 and the price is great whatever you decide,as for the corsiar why spend more on what appears to be the same, that's the way I see it. ;)

Yeh they look exactly same.. just i never used ocz etc only corsair (fanboy) haha but i might definitly jump ship and join OCZ or crucial.

i'm looking at an upgrade at the mo, and these 5300 sticks have cought my eye for sure, why pay more for what is largely thought of as the same ram. got to be worth a go, if you get a duffer sell it and try again ;)
