I'm going to get the Monitor Audio R90HD10 5.1 speakers and was wondering which receiver would suit it best:
Currently on my list i have:
Denon 1912 -£500
Denon 2312 -£800
Pioneer 921 -£449
Pioneer 1021 -£599
Pioneer 2021 -£799
Yamaha 671 - £500
Yamaha 771 -£650
Yamaha 1067 £850

I will be using it with an Xbox, Sky HD and a HTPC.
Doing my research I cant actually get much information on the pros/cons between the models (besides the manufactures website).
I would like to play music off my network and android remote support would be nice. I've demoed the Denon 1912, and was happy with it.. but didnt have anything to compare it to.

There are a lot of older models that are discontinued, and im happy to pick an older model, though i'm a bit at a loss which way to go. The hifi store i went to wasnt much help, just kept repeating the more expensive the receiver, the better it is (though not quantifying what was meant by better!).

Any advice is much appreciated!

R90HDs are great little speakers. They'll work happily with anything in your amp list and good enough to take amps in the £800+ range.

The 1067 is a great amp and can be had for £650 new, check out Quantum Electronics.

Also look on AV Forums classifieds, theres a couple of the bigger brother 2067 for sale on there.

Any advantage in taking the older Yamaha 1067 against the other amps?

Yes, you get more for your money. Check to see if any features you really need are missing, I doubt there will be much though.
