Morning all,

Found my self in a bit of a position and looking for some direction.

Recently started a new job working away from home quite a bit, weather dependent I can often spend multiple days doing nothing. My last trip I spent a total of 10 out of 21 days sat watching TV, I quickly realised I needed a gaming fix.

I've narrowed it down to two realistic options, though both at other ends of the pricing spectrum...

1. Buy a Nintendo Switch, can use docked mode on the TV in my room, also grab something like a cheap Chromebook so I don't have to use my phone for dealing with emails. I've penciled the initial outlay of this at around £600, the Switch + games at around £400 and around £200 on a Chromebook.

2. Buy a half decent gaming laptop. Found an i5 7600K, GTX1060 6GB, Gsync (or 120hz) 15.4" laptop elsewhere or get the Acer G9-593 which is similar spec. Looking at bench marks this would play just about anything I would wish to play, with the perk that I wouldn't really have to buy any games, mice, controllers etc... as I already have everything though I'm looking around £1200 for it.

So twice the cost but potentially a more satisfying purchase.

Open to other suggestions, hearing from people in a similar situation too.

Just something else to throw in the mix...go small form factor with the PC so easy to carry about (as you would be carrying a laptop anyway) and just connect to the Tv as you would with the Switch.

I guess with this option you are tied to playing at places with a TV, as with a laptop you can literally play anywhere.

The small form factor could come in cheaper and then get the switch and its a win win :D
