I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what the better router to keep of two that I have go at the moment.
TP-Link Archer VR2800 or the Asus AC3100 (RT-AC88U)?

I do seem to fins the wifi speeds and stability a bit unsteady on the asus, which is odd.

Honestly, I’d go with the TP-Link Archer VR2800. I’ve heard the Asus can be a bit hit-or-miss with stability, so if you’re already feeling some wifi issues, it might not be worth sticking with it. The Archer usually delivers good performance and reliability.

Archer, stick OpenWRT on it.

Edit apparently the soc doesn't have Linux support but I'd still take Tplink over the Asus. Unless the Asus supports OpenWRT. :D

Wouldn't trust Asus with anything security wise.

My TP-Link networking hardware has served me well over the years so far, maybe a little bit no frills but generally just works, can't say the same for Asus.
