I have BT FTTC at around 40 meg,

The homehub doesn't seem very good, if I am downloading on newsgroups, browsing on iphone isn't possible at all.

I am thinking of doing away with the router and replacing it with a new one, which router is good, but it doesn't have to have amazing wireless capabilities really as I am powerline networking an access point to the upstairs section of the house.

Any suggestions on a router? The ASUS N56U looks good, but it's quite expensive.

I ditched my HH3 as it only had one gigabit port, then the BT modem decided to overheat & die, so I replaced the BT kit with a Draytek 2750N.

N56U is a good mid range router. Also check out the Netgear N600(wndr3700), Linksys E3500 and Belkin N600 which are the competitors.

TP-Link TL-WR1043ND is a good value for money router.
