Not sure I explained what I'm after that well I'll elaborate!....

I loved Mass Effect 2+3 first games I've ever had the patience to finish more than once. (never had the patience to even finish many a good game.

Games like Dragon age, oblivion, skyrim, fallout, Ive sunk A LOT of hours into, but ultimately got bored of the combat. Its like I love building the character, and quickly get bored of fighting with it once I get halfway through! SO I start another character type, and tire of that also...

Out and out shooters I always found lacking in the story/character building aspect.

I realise I'm asking a lot, but what game do you think I should pick up next?

Dark/Demon Souls?

This is exactly what your after just don't give up too easy as the game makes you earn your progression

Completely different combat to mass effect and not as much of a story but the best 2 games this generation by a distance imo.

Hmm.

Kingdom of Amalur? Not played it but the combat system was heavily praised.

General RPG's don't have the most enjoyable combat system tbh. Borderlands is good but the story is **** and there isn't really any role playing, it's basically just a shooter with stats.

Worth trying the Infamous games, not really an RPG but the combat and story are very good with some nice character progression. It's as much an RPG as Borderlands is.

As others have mentioned, Demon/Dark Souls has fantastic combat in my opinion.

Although you may be disappointed if an epic storyline / plot interests you.

Another game with fun, satisfying combat that I would recommend is Dragons Dogma. The storyline is a bit mental, but it doesn't detract from a fun experience in my opinion.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the help guys. I've started another dragon age game, may be bored by the morning! lol

The story I'd say is more important, dont want to feel like i'm playing it for nothing, I think this is where I struggled with out and out shooters...

If Demon/Dark Souls doesn't float your boat, then what about Dragon's Dogma?

Combat system I would say is much better than something like Kingdoms of Amalur.

How about JRPG territory like Resonance of Fate.

Tales of Xillia or whatever it's called looks quite crazy in the combat department. Also I just got psone game breath of fire 3.........the combat requires a lot of thinking as you progress as the odds are stacked well against you in some random battles.

I have both Demon Souls and Dark souls.

I loved Demon Souls, played it sooo much.

Was looking forward to Dark Souls and found it even more difficult and just gave up :( I think that I wasn't in the form for it.

May go back to it at some stage. (Really difficult though, anyone else find that? )

I've put about 42 hours into Amalur and I'm not bored yet. Combat is different ti many RPGs in that you make "combos", not just of say warrior like sword skills, but also magic and ranged assaults. For example, my character is a warrior mage, so I'll cast a lightning bolt at range, teleport into mid range, use chakrams to wipe out the weak and the great sword the closest. My bro says it reminds him of God of War.

The Souls series is definitely what you want, no other RPG takes any skill really, just slight intelligence to build the right character, Souls; especially Demon's Souls, forces you to actually be skilled with the physical side or die.

I wouldn't recommend Dragon's Dogma, because for one its incredibly easy, takes little to no skill and runs poorly on the consoles it was forced on.

Play them in order or does it not matter?

A lot of reviews say there is not much story, and what keeps you coming back is because its so hard its the feeling of accomplishemnt..... not a little frustrating?

Dragons Dogma only becomes easy around level 35 ish. Before that it can be pretty hard but what a ride :D. And travelling around the land dangerous especially at night. But the explorationg and journey is where the fun is at not the destination.

The combat is a lot of fun - more fun than DS imho. Good pawn system as well. Good fun trying the different classes (different playstyles).

In Demons Souls there isnt really different classes. Its a more indepth game yeah but it will be frustrating as well.

Sorry no i think its false for you to say it runs poorly on console...maybe your console but DD runs fine on my PS3 :)

DS can be frustrating because it forces you to keep on your toes all the time. But Demons Souls is the one i would get first not Dark Souls.
