I have a C2d 2.4, 8800GTS, 2gb ram and crucially - VISTA.

Which of these RTS perform well with Vista?

C&C 3
Supreme Commander
Company of Heroes
Medieval 2

Want to pick up one of them today.

I have to say that even though company of heroes is technically a very good game, i didnt really find it all that fun.

I played the demo for supreme commander and it just strikes me as a very tedious game. Building a base feels like building a ship out of matchsticks, and being able to zoom really far out makes it feel really impersonal and lifeless, like doing a crossword on the back page of the paper.

C&C i think is my favorite. It doesnt waste your time with building massive pointless bases like Supcom and i prefer the gameplay to CoH as its more action oriented. Some might even compare C&C to being an FPS of RTS games, because it depends as much on your reaction times and your alertness as it does on knowing where to strike and what units to build. I'm a big fan of FPS's so maybe thats why i like it.

I think i would pick CnC3 from those,
CoH was a bloody good game too though,
Didn't understand what the fuss was about supcom,
Never played medieval 2

Supreme Commander for multiplayer, Medieval 2 for single player. I have c&c3 but only played the first few levels and it didn't want to make me play more...

Company of Heros (plus it has a DX10 patch coming out ;) )

I presume since there working on COH 2 and that is dx10, there will not be a dx10 patch now for COH1. Least thats my understanding.

SupCom or C&C. They are both very good. I prefer SupCom personally as games are usually longer and i like the huge scale and the ability to zoom right in and right out. C&C games are usually shorter and a lot of rush tactics are used in multiplayer games. But still a good game. :)

I prefer to build up my base and forces, acting defensively, unless i need to attack. Then... when I'm ready i attack looking to defeat the enemy in one or two waves. I just prefer it that way, thats why i prefer SupCom i suppose.

COH or Medieval 2 are the best imo. I keep coming back to play them. They can be as casual or hardcore as you want really.

I found SupCom way too tedious...almost bordering on feeling like a job rather than a game. Can't understand all the hype it gets tbh.

I am never tactical on these kind of games, the rush tactics sort of describe me a to a tee, fire everyone in and hope for the best :)

Thats not true rushing :)

Finally a modern times game on a bigger scale, hardly any of them around...

AL seem to cap @ aroudn 50-150 units, supcom at least allows for 1k, and more with mods...
